Major structural problems and rotting timbers left the barn at Maypole at risk of collapse. Seymour & Bainbridge were asked to repair and convert the building and replace the low single storey garage to the side.

 

The barn was carefully winched upright and repaired using traditional timber frame details.  Occasionally discreet steel straps were used to retain as much of the existing fabric as possible.

 

The barn was converted to provide a large open plan living space with WC and kitchenette.  The garage was replaced with a larger double garage with tool room above.
